New ways to help you

One of the many great things about running my own business is adapting. The other is meeting new people who ask me if I can help them do this or that, and knowing I can.

I’ve had a little time with my notepad to sketch out these details over the past few weeks. It took a while. It’s important to have growth but to manage it well so that every service is delivered well.

So here’s a Tah-dah, and a list of what’s new!

VIP half-days - your own designer

Perfect for the niggly but intense design jobs, I now provide 3.5 hours of intense and dedicated design for £400. Full days are bookable with 6 hours for £800.

You’ll book me to exclusively work on the design task we agree to provide. You’ll get a Q&A after your enquiry so your brief is clear and I can check what is doable before any money is handed over, so you get the best from me. We agree the day on a Zoom chat and then I get to work during the booked slot. You’ll also get a week of support after the day. Here’s more on how my VIP services can work for you.

Website design

Website design maintenance

If you don’t have time to update or look after your website, I can support you. You can ask me about updating content on the website, adding new blog articles using your supplied copy, adding in a new page, creating your newsletter templates using your content, and analysis of your website statistics.

Website design feedback

Complete a bespoke brief and I’ll review your website with you on Zoom for one hour, offering advice on legibility, consistency, fonts, design, flow and copy. We’ll record the call and you’ll get a written report explaining my suggestions to help you develop the site and take it to the next level or you can do it yourself.

I’m a Squarespace authorised trainer, designer and Circle member, part of Women Who Code and trained in UX design with General Assembly.

Publishing

Setting up for success - expanding my services to help writers and publishers

Call on my services to help you with your publishing project including:

  • Illustration, and illustration buying. I’ll select the best illustrator portfolios for your brief so you can make a selection and create a brief, managing the artist from roughs to final artworks ready for use.

  • Image research from the best image libraries with imaginative suggestions and copyright compliant photo editing.

  • Proofreading and editing recommendations from my trusted list.

  • Managing print including KDP and Ingram Spark, and litho or digital printers.

  • Author promotional packages, I can create your website ready for pre-orders and post publication orders, social media graphics, crowdfunding visuals and book launch material, and create your website so you don’t have to commission and manage more than one creative.

  • Design and accessibility reviews for covers and inside pages.

  • Book rescue. If you have a book in need of saving during the production process? Maybe I can help (dependent on copyright, contracts and legals)

Cover review

If you’re stuck with your cover or having trouble understanding how to brief it, can I help?

  • Complete a bespoke Q&A and send over your cover ideas.

  • I’ll review your cover brief offering advice on legibility, fonts, design and image selection or provide a short list of artists whom you can approach in a written report so you can take it to the next level or you can do it yourself.

  • Cost is deductible from my cover design services if you’d like me to continue the work with me.

I’m a partner member of the Alliance of Independent Authors, having met their Code of Ethics, bookable on Reedsy and Services for Authors by Sam Missingham. Winner of WhiteFox Unsung Hero of Publishing, and finalist in Cambridgeshire Digital Awards for Arts and Culture.

Social Media

Visual content support

Are you stuck with how to move your branding or logo into Canva? Can't read the words? Too many words? Know that font isn’t very good but no idea what would work, and how does that logo work with this image? Where are the good images? Does your template looks like a competitor?

Canva is useful. I use with my branding clients after I’ve created their bespoke designs from hand drawing to Adobe software as it enables them to create social media posts from our branding and logo designs. But it is reliant on templates and doesn’t teach design. If you are struggling, you’re not alone.

If you haven’t used me for branding but you’re stuck with legality and originally or simply want some advice or a series of templates or images to get the best from what you have now, I can help. Hit the button below, let’s see where you’re at and what you’d like to do and we’ll form a plan.
